CRUSH's Fandom Is Here to Strategize for the New Boy Group

Turkey's newest boy group releases its first single on July 31. Their fandom published a seven-day promotional schedule six days early, and a fan-made Twibbon was one slot on it.

On the evening of July 26, 2026 Turkey Time, a fan-run news account posted a Twibbon into an X community called CRUSHERS ☆. Within three days, 629 people had shown their support, while the group had not yet released a single song.

CRUSH is a Turkish pop group of seven young men: Arda Soydoğan, Milan Önder, Efe Şan, Miraç Fırat, Barış Çağan Yüksekkaya, Batu Cengiz, and Oğuzhan Çifçi. They were assembled on the evening of Sunday, July 5, at the final of Idol House Türkiye, a survival show built through a collaboration between DMC and ETL Records, in which boys went through months of vocal, dance, and stage training before competing for a position in a group.

The YouTube channel, where all training video diaries and performances can be watched, has garnered more than 46 million views in total. And the final filled Maximum Uniq Açıkhava in Istanbul, with more than 7,000 in the seats and roughly 90,000 on the livestream. Fifteen finalists performed. Seven walked off as CRUSH. Their debut single, also titled "CRUSH!", arrives July 31.

What came next was the promotion for the group's debut. Fans were not just waiting around for a single and a music video to drop. They were getting ready in the wings.

A day before the frame appeared, @CrushBoysNews launched a calendar:

"CRUSH! debut week fandom calendar is ready", it read, in Turkish.

The calendar laid out campaigns, Stationhead broadcasts, where fans stream together in a shared room, and debut night events, laid out across July 25 to 31. The post has been seen 64,000 times. The account, however, is not the label. It was created in May 2026 to cover Idol House, then transformed into a support account for the seven who made the group.

A seven-day promotional schedule was announced before the debut, and the Twibbon became a part of the program. The Twibbonize campaign CRUSH! Çerçeve, Turkish for "CRUSH! Frame", was created by semo, @m6nicrush on X. semo did not announce the Twibbon on her personal account, but it was the fan page CrushBoysNews that distributed the frame. After this, other fans began using the Twibbon. So the frame did not take off by itself, or by an individual, it was rather the result of a coordinated effort by CRUSHERS. A real illustration of a campaign.

The campaign page also says Hep birlikte Crush'layalım<3, an invented verb with a typed heart on the end, roughly means "Let's all Crush together<3". The plan was written from inside the fandom, in the fandom's own grammar.

The tag campaigns spiked, topping Turkey's X trending list in the small hours of July 25-26 with the keyphrase NeZamanaKadarBenlesin, "how long will you be with me?", and the hashtag #31TemmuzCRUSH, which is simply the release date. But a trend ends when the trend hour ends. The Stationhead broadcasts concentrate streaming into a countable window, and require everyone to show up live. The Twibbon is the only item on the list that is steady.

Profile pictures behave differently from posts. A post enters a feed, collects its hours, and sinks. A profile picture stays, following the person into every reply, group chat, and argument they wander into for the next week.

So the frame's timing matters more than its count. As there is no song yet, nobody puts it on to say "I like this song". Rather, it's a statement of commitment, "I am ready to support the release".  But more than that, the Twibbon is also a way of saying "I'm part of something new", and the people wearing it are CRUSH's first supporters.

Fans also post about the upcoming debut in their own way, while wearing the Twibbon.

Posting in this distinctly online grammar, while wearing the Twibbon, increases the visibility not just of CRUSH, but also of the fans. It isn't a behavior a company can manufacture. A fan posting in their own colloquial language is something that travels well among other fans.

None of it has been amplified from above. CRUSH's official Instagram, with 163,000 followers, has not shared the frame. No press picked it up. No member has reposted it. These supporters came because a community they belonged to posted a Twibbon for people they all love. People who arrive at the campaign that way are more likely to join than people who wander in from a search result.

The CRUSHERS, of course, did not originate this. In fact, it has become a common pattern for fans of an idol: preparing for their fave's next big thing. Earlier this July, a Twibbon for PABLO's solo single passed 1,900 supporters in the Philippines, made by Keyk, a community admin of the singer's fan hub.

The resemblance is hard to miss. A walled community first, a public push second, tag campaigns to make it loud, a frame to make it last. Two fandoms that don't speak each other's language, yet the same instrument.

But common does not mean unremarkable. What keeps this form in circulation is not that anybody has proven its efficacy in making these fans' faves popular. Rather, it costs nothing yet makes the fans' effort for the idols visible.

You can manufacture a group in a studio. What you cannot manufacture is the willingness of people in their 20s to make a badge for strangers to wear, or the instinct to publish a schedule for a group's debut six days early. It cannot be disputed that DMC and ETL established a boy band, and they did it well. But this group of fans put together the campaign, and nobody appointed them to do it. That is the part worth noticing.
